LONDRES

City Break in the heart of London
Londres (GB)
Sep 1, 2018 - Aug 31, 2019
DESTINATION

The city of London has a peculiarity: it does not have a city center to speak of. No need to look for one special place from where you can go party. However, as there are quite a few neighbourhoods where nightlife is developed, it is easy to walk from bar to bar in the early evening before heading to one of the emblematic clubs of London. The atmospheres are quite different but are always very pleasant and respectful thanks to the diversity that characterizes London and its people with different cultures. We have put together a short list of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city to give you an example of the directions you should follow when you go out.

Camden Town
Even if art is not your cup of tea, it is essential not to leave London without having visited its most atypical district. Camden Town, which is located north of Saint Pancras Station (arrival of the Eurostar from Paris), is a real showcase for street arts, tags, furniture made entirely out of recycled materials in bars and restaurants. In short, it is a treasure for your Instagram! Shopaholics, you will also find there the best thrift shops of the city that offer vintage and quality items for all styles and budgets. There are a lot of nice little bars and local pubs all over the area.

East End
The East End District is not to be missed when it comes to going out, whether for a drink, a cocktail, a good beer, or going out in one of the countless clubs in London. Located a little north of Old Street, the neighbourhood is the temple of Street Art and London's best food trucks. It is the benchmark of London start-ups between ping pong bars, open-air bars, cocktail bars and some of the most emblematic clubs in the city. Hoxton Square in the Hackney neighbourhood also offers a large number of affordable restaurants as in a lively, small-town neighbourhood. This is the spot for the trendy clubs in London.

Dalston
A little further North in Hackney, you'll find the most affordable prices. The house and electro music lovers will be delighted because it is here that you will be able to mix with all the clubbers of the genre in the streets with rows of pubs, bars and clubs that stay open most of the night. The Dalston Superstore is the mastodon of the neighbourhood, but you will also wait a lot in line to get in.

ACCOMMODATION

The hotels have been chosen to suit all possible budgets. They are all ideally close to the sea and nightlife of London. The movements in the city are very easy by the presence of the metro.

THE MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS OF LONDON

Coca-Cola London Eye
Located on the banks of the Thames, the famous London Eye will take you up to admire in all directions, London’s skyline and all the most famous monuments of the city. You will make the tour of this imposing Ferris wheel in thirty minutes, the time for you to familiarize yourself a little more with the city and to appreciate its extent. It is indeed the largest observation wheel in the world, the most visited attraction in London and a nice starting point for your visit of the city.

Big Ben, Elizabeth Tower
You obviously can’t leave London without going there. The Palace of Westminster is an important monument of the city, which can be visited and houses the British Parliament. The best is still to pass by before or after the London Eye since it also borders the Thames. Just cross the bridge of the same name to get the best view. The palace is huge and contains over 1000 pieces. Right next to it is the Elizabeth Tower, which can’t be visited but remains one of the most emblematic monuments of the city with the famous Big Ben at its top, which is actually the name of the huge bell of the Elizabeth Tower and which gives the time to Londoners.

Buckingham Palace
Ah, the famous Queen's Castle, which is open to visitors all summer long. Symbol of the British constitutional monarchy, the palace hosts many royal events throughout the year such as state banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and garden parties given by the Queen and / or the Royal Family. If you are trying to make the famous photo with the impassive guards of the queen, you can do it here. You will also be able to attend the changing of the guard if you arrive at the right moment.

Tower of London
It is on the banks of the Thames but this time on the East side of the city. You will have the best view of this famous fortified construction arriving from the Tower Bridge. For the record, in 900 years of history, the building has been used alternately as a royal palace, fortress, prison and place of execution, hotel of the currency, arsenal, menagerie and jewellery fort. It is therefore possible to visit the jewels of the Queen at the Tower of London but beware, it is forbidden to take pictures under penalty of imprisonment.

THE LARGEST CLUBS IN LONDON

We are not going to lie, clubs in London, not only there is a hand full, but in addition there are many which are not bad at all. Everything depends on the length of your stay but it is likely that you can’t visit them all (reason to come back!). We therefore listed the biggest, the most famous, with different atmospheres, to try to stick to all styles.

Ministry Of Sound
This is undoubtedly the rendezvous of the London nights with its 5 rooms, 4 bars, 2 VIP areas and a sound to pamper the greatest! To get to the club, take the metro stops Elephant or Castle. The club is in a former bus station, it's big, and it's all the biggest international DJs who come behind the turntables for parties that never end. The club closes at 6am and is open all year round.

Fabric
The Fabric is where all the biggest London DJs come to perform. You will be able to take a peek at the line up during your stay because the styles can be very different from one night to another: Hip-Hop, Electro or Dubstep, there is plenty of choice with a sound system that will make you shake (no really you’ll vibrate, the "Bodysonic" sound system will make you feel the bass impressively). The club is located at Farrington tube station and is open until 7am on Fridays, 8am on Saturdays and 5am on Sundays, way to go!

Corsica Studios
Shoreditch and Hoxton clubs are not cool enough for you? Don’t panic, we have the solution! You can go to Corsica Studios, with the metro stops Elephant or Castle, and discover the temple of the underground electronic music in this little club where you will not queue for hours at the entrance as it has a capacity of 500 people. The decor is sophisticated with an artistic touch but the atmosphere remains simple and relaxed. The club opens every evening, from Sunday to Thursday until 3am and Friday and Saturday night until 6am.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The climate
The best months to visit London are the summer months, from June to September, but you'll be able to visit the London capital all year long. The city is also very famous for its New Year's Eve. There is an average of fifteen days of rain per month (that's one day out of two, yes) so do not necessarily expect to have 4 days of good weather when you go there. The average temperature varies between 3 ° / 11 ° in winter and 13 ° / 22 ° in summer. You now understand that to warm up, better push the door of the innumerable bars and pubs of London rather than to wait for the sun!

Language
The English speak English. Like all natives, they will tend to talk fast with a rather pretty British accent in London. So do not hesitate to play the French Tourist and ask them to speak a little slower if you have trouble understanding them. Apart from the business districts, they will usually be ready to give you a hand if you are lost with your subway map.

Currency
The currency in London is the British Pound or GBP for Great Britain Pound (symbol: £). € 1 equals approximately £ 0.90 (rate of the pound at the beginning of September 2018). This is obviously the only currency with which you can pay for your purchases in London (put your euros and dollars back in your pocket, we saw them). You will be able to easily change money before your departure at your bank or in a foreign exchange counter, or do it directly on the spot according to the agreements that you have with your bank, either by taking cash with you, then going to a currency exchange counter, either by withdrawing money with your credit card directly from an ATM.
